I%26#39;m looking for clean, quiet hotel in chiang rai. Budget to moderate $30 or less. Any recommendations?

I%26#39;ll start the ball rolling with my favourite, Laluna, though it%26#39;s probably going to be more like US$40.
A very peaceful resort just across the Mae Kok river is the Rimkok Resort.
It%26#39;s not flash, and transport back into town can be hit and miss. The rooms were tiring a few years back when I last stayed there. Rooms are your run of the mill 3 star fare with the usual services, facilities, etc. It has a nice big pool and is set on a large landscaped area. I don%26#39;t think it gets busy too often, and it%26#39;s certainly peaceful. Expect to pay around US$35.

Our guide in CR (Jermsak) recently suggested The Moon and Sun as an option. Just search the name - it looks good and is about a ten minute walk from the night market.
Caroline.
Thanks. I will check those out. I emailed Palm Gardens Hotel, but no answer as yet.
My wife and I stayed at Wangcome last year,is close to all in town and very comforable I think was 1300 baht with breakfast, but dont quote me.But do remember the hotel as being very good value and excellant service.
It all depends on when you are staying in Thailand as the Hotel costs have just started to go up, especialy from November and December as it is going into the High Season.
When do antisipate going to Thailand?
Ed
Yes, thanks, I know about high season. I%26#39;m planning to be there in early December, and I will likely stay at the Palm Gardens unless someone comes up with a much better and convincing recommendation.
Hi,
I%26#39;ve had a look at Palm Gardens, it reminded me a bit of an Aussie %26#39;Motel%26#39;. I think the location is quite good.
It really depends on what you are looking for and your personal preference.
You can get more %26#39;Thai Style%26#39; places - but CR is not a big place, so the options are a little limited.
Caroline.
Thanks Caroline,
The photos of Palm Gardens certainly look like a genuine hotel. I wonder if there are two places with similar names. At any rate, on your recommendation, or your guide%26#39;s recommendation, I have looked at and emailed Sun and Moon, which is a bit cheaper and looks quite nice as well. One always has to be skeptical of the photos, so I will hope for more confirmations of the worth of Sun and Moon. Thanks again.

Scappoose:
Don%26#39;t know how much help this is, but I did have a private message from a couple who had booked Sun and Moon and really enjoyed it and found it very clean. I personally haven%26#39;t seen it but plan to take a look when I am back in Chiang Rai in April.

Hey Chuck
I had a great room at LaLuna for around Baht1200. it is value for money, a little way out of town but I like the walk especially after a meal or a few drinks plus the pool and surrounds are first rate. A very good hotel for the price.
And you don%26#39;t have to eat at their restaurants hey Caroline.
Jeff
