advise on hotel in phuket
Karon beach has lot less hustle and bustle than Patong and of course less sleazy.
I stayed at Kron with my children. Having visited Patong, I thought it was lot less sleazier than expected and I would be ok about staying there.

Theres lots more activities for kids in Patong, as well as a lot more shopping oppurtunities. Check the reveiws for Andaman Suites

I always get this one mixed up with Andaman Beach Resort, which is across from this one. The one you are looking at is a high rise tower. Go to the hotel reviews and you will see pictures of this. Being able to use the facilities at Andaman Beach Resort is a bonus, but I%26#39;m not one for Tower style accommodation. Still, a room is a room; if it%26#39;s a nice room, all is well.
Don%26#39;t worry about staying in Patong. There are working girls to be seen when the sun goes down, but for the strong stuff you have to enter the establishments. At dusk it%26#39;s like the changing of the guard, where the plain looking, dumpy daytime massage ladies become the svelte and sexily dressed night time massage ladies, and the nature of the massage changes. They were not particularly sleazy, and mainly concentrated in Bangla Rd. Even Bangla was not bad at the times we walked through, which was not late. Walking with my family probably ruled me out as a potential customer so we didn%26#39;t get hassled.
For a family such as yours, I don%26#39;t think you can go past the Patong Merlin. It%26#39;s not the flashest place, but it%26#39;s not a high-rise, and has a good pool setup. Thara Patong is much the same on a slightly smaller scale. I loved Duangjitt, but probably more than most because I stayed in the best room. It is similar to Andaman Beach Resort in that it has large grounds, but the pools at Duangjitt are better, and it%26#39;s closer to Otop markets.
If you go for Karon, we liked the Centara Karon. The cheapest rooms there are in a Tower block, but were quite nice and new inside. April ? I%26#39;d stay in Patong.
We looked at the beach suites complex in July but prefer the sister hotel down/across the road, Club Andaman, due to its pools, beautiful gardens and more spacious grounds. In saying that, there is now only the two of us and we no longer need the extra living space that a family with children requires.
On our last visit we met a family who stay at the Andaman Beach Suites every year because it suits their space requirements but who spend most of their swimming time at Club Andaman.
It may be worthwhile comparing how much it would cost to get adjoining rooms at Club Andaman. That way you have the kids close to you but you also can have some privacy as well. If it is not cost effective to do that or does not suit, I am sure you will be very happy staying at the Beach Suites.
Have a great holiday.
Hi There,
Great choice of hotel its up the northern end of Patong and we found the staff, the hotel and its facilities very very good.
As a guest there you can use all the facilities of Club Anderman witch is across the road. Its the best of both worlds and if you above the 8th floor you have beautiful views of the ocean.
Cheers, Pete.
thank you all for replying, great to get %26#39;inside%26#39; advice! x
