we are staying in patong beach and want a good restaurant for a birthday dinner. not tooo expensive but something memorable , any ideas??

I would consider Molly Malones or Scruffy Murphies, not the cheapest, but big menu, and live music later in the evening.
Another way is to befriend a bar owner, and have him put on a BBQ.....then you will have a memorable night, I am sure.

A photo shoot with friends and family in the afternoon at your resort and beach would be a nice bday present!
