Where to stay - Hilton Phuket Arcadia OR Holiday Inn Resort?

Hi,

My husband and I will be going to Phuket for the first time for 5 nights at the end of November/early December and are trying to decide between the Hilton Phuket Arcadia and the Holiday Inn Resort. Which would you recommend for 1st time visitors in terms of location, convenience , etc. if the price/night is about the same for either? I%26#39;ve read great reviews about both resorts but am torn between staying in Karon vs. Patong. Some of the activities we%26#39;re interested in are day trips to Ko Phi Phi, a 1/2 or full day trip to Phang Nga %26amp; James Bond Island, and watch a muay thai boxing match. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Cathy

My husband and child stayed at the Hilton this time last year for 12 nights, the resort is huge and the service is exceptional. We stayed in the Lotus wing which have the larger rooms and ocean views but they are also expensive. The Hilton was beautiful but for us it was just too far out, there was no stepping out of the hotel grounds to find eateries and markets as can be found when exiting the Holiday Inn. If you don%26#39;t want to be in the middle of the hustle bustle than the Hilton would be the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. It would not really matter where you stayed for tours as minibuses pick you up included in the price.

We are heading back to Phuket in May next year and are currently looking at the Holiday Inn as well as Laflora.

You cannot get a better location than the Holiday Inn, if you are wanting to stay in Patong. The HI is right in the thick of things (beach accross the road, OTOP markets also accross the road, Bangla rd a 5 min walk). Once you return from the craziness of Patong, you feel like you have escaped when you have returned to the HI.

I guess the only thing you need to sedcide is if you want to stay in Patong or Karon....

Cheers

Hi Cathy,

We stayed at Patong area and we are glad we did, as you can walk every where, but you would have to travel by taxi or bus to go from Karon .

Our friends stayed at Holiday Inn Resort and said it was really great.

If you want the quieter time stay at Karon or Shopping Night Life etc etc go to Patong. November was agreat time to go as well. James Bond Tour by Speedboat was also terrific.

I have been to Phuket 7 times.,, Regarding Phi Phi Island and day trips you can do that out of both hotels. You need to decdide weather you want a relaxation stay with outstanding hotel services %26amp; calm beach VS crazy but interesting night life, with usual, and avarage hotel services in HI. IT would take you around 20 minutes to travel from Karon to Patong while HI is just a stroll out of the hotel. I am sure you will enjoy both. I sugest that you split your stay into 2 if you are staying for at least 8 days. Start in Hilton %26amp; end in HI.

Please don%26#39;t stay at either. Believe me Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort leaves these two for dead. Been there 10 times. Best beach and location on the island. Close but far enough from the rat race in Patong. Can get a Tuk Tuk or taxi to patong for $4 each way.
