Andaman Coast - Where to go?

Hey there,

I am heading to the Andaman Coast for about 3 weeks in the beginning of December. I was wondering where are the best places to go? I think Phuket might be fun, but a bit too crazy to spend a lot of time, so I will probably only stay there for a few days.

Where else should I go?

That depends on your interests I guess.

Koh Lak is an option. It is more family oriented.

PhrangNga is another possibility. Beautiful place but it is a bay and not the sea so water is not the turquoise blue we all love.

If you want a laid back holiday, I%26#39;d try northern Phuket rather than southern.

Less people up there and less options but much quieter IMO.

hey Vancouver me too.We went last year.Phuket for a few days for sure.There is a small island south of phuket ..KO RAYA.Easy to get boat transport.No roads just trails to a few different bungalow/restaurants.On white sand beaches.Quiet paradise.Definately 3 or 4 days.Ko lanta (also a ferry ride away from phuket(3hrs)Really laid back quiet.Great snorkeling trips from there 5 or 6 days.And there is ko phi phi on the way back to phuket.A few days of shopping and partying.Like above khao lak possibly.We are going back in jan(checking out similan islands,and trang islands)..Move around a bit and you wont get bored?..Good luck..www.rayabungalows,com.......Go canucks

Twotravel has 3 very good suggestions :)

There is so much to do in the area and sad that some people never venture away from Phuket. Nearby places all good for several days include Khao Lak, Krabi, Phi Phi island and Koh Lanta. Basically all roughly 2 hrs from each other.

We have done several trips to the area, all of about 3-4 weeks duration so you may get some ideas from here... www.bobandjanette.com

Thanks for all the help! I do want to experience Phuket, but also want to hit some of the more laid back areas around there, so these are all great suggestions!
