Hi All
Does anyone know if there are any malls very near the airport? We are flying back to Auckland from Koh Samui but have a 7 hour stop (maybe a bit less to allow for check-in) in Bangkok in early December.
Thanks
7 hours to kill - any good shopping near airport? No nothing near the airport, it will take about 1 hour to travel into BKK central depending on traffic and of course the same return.
It is certainly enough time to spend a couple of hours at MBK.
Better than sitting in the airport.
Enjoy your stopover.

7 hours to kill - any good shopping near airport? Not true on both counts. One of Asia%26#39;s largest malls, Seacom Square, is not far from the airport, maybe about 20-25 minutes by taxi.
And it only takes around 40 minutes to get into Bangkok%26#39;s commercial centre, where there is an agglomeration of malls, not just MBK, but also Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Center, Gaysorn Plaza, Central World Plaza, Amarin Plaza... did I miss any? They%26#39;re all adjacent to one another and all accessible on the Skywalk.
Naturally, the further you go into the city centre, the more you risk that you could be blocked by a traffic snarl. So leave plenty of time to get back to make your flight. I would allow one hour, although it will likely be a lot faster.
Expect to pay about 350 baht each way for the taxi.
Hi,
If you were to go, the closest mall of any real significant size is Central at Bang-na... Central is one of Thailand%26#39;s leading upper-scale department stores and is the ';anchor'; tenant at several larger shopping malls around the city-- Bang-na being one of them.
Here%26#39;s the website where you can see what%26#39;s there.. Like your typical mall, you%26#39;ll have numerous places to eat, do some shopping and walk-- all indoors and air conditioned. A nice way to get out of the airport for a while and stretch your legs.
Taxis are plentiful at the mall-- just ask for the taxi queue/line when you%26#39;re ready to go back to the airport. BE SURE that you leave more than enough time-- with a cushion for unexpected things-- to get back to the airport to reclaim your left luggage and check-in (if applicable) with your onward carrier.

Travel Safe,
GOPBI, isn%26#39;t Seacon actually a bit closer than Central City Bangna?
OP, if you go there, be aware the Thai pronunciation of ';Central'; is ';Cent-RAHN'; or ';Cent-LAHN.';
Hi,
I suspect it would be close.. If you were to come out of the airport on the back side by the storm water management facilities and use Bangna-Trat road then I suspect you%26#39;d have a shorter mileage trip to Central.. owning to the fact that off Bang-na you%26#39;d still have to make the right at Srinakarin.. So, I guess it matters how/where you were to come out of the airport..
Travel Safe,
I guess if we check our bags in to go direct to Auckland from Koh Samui we won%26#39;t have them to worry about at Bangkok and that should give us more time.
Thank you all for your help.
