Hotel in Chiang Mai for solo female traveler

Hi Travelers,

I am spending 4 nights in Chiang Mai by myself in Nov before meeting up with my travel partner in Bangkok. Can anyone recommend a peaceful, beautiful yet fun hotel for under $100-$120/night?

I don%26#39;t need to be right in town but something fairly close. I also want something that is not too ';honeymoonish'; as I will be solo- maybe something that either lends itself to talking and meeting with other people (but do not want a party atmosphere) or near areas where I could meet others.

Thanks!

For your budget you have lots of options.

Some of the nice places in the old city / moat area - recommended regularly on this forum - are De Naga, Bondi Serene, UHotel - also have a look at the 3 Sis Bed and Breakfast. This is a great area to stay in to explore and wander around. If you are there on a Sunday you%26#39;ll also enjoy the Sunday Walking Street Market right through the middle of the old city.

Thank you!

You might check out the Riverside Lodge, right on the Ping River. It is a long time favorite, with a garden and dining set up that lends itself to meeting your fellow guests. Owners are very people oriented and good source of local info. The one drawback is a noisy bar across the river, but not too much of a problem if you close your windows at night and use the a/c.

Great- I will check that out.

Many great hotels in Chiang Mai, plenty to choose from but if you are coming during Loi Krathong then you need to book soon.

A different option for you might be to rent an furnished apartment for the time you are here. Different feeling than staying in a hotel room.

Check out Studio 99 as I see that they get alot of good reviews here on this site.

Thanks- but I def want a hotel. I know there are a lot of hotels to choose from. I just want to make sure I have a pretty hotel (pool, relaxation, lots of trees, etc.) but one where it is NOT only couples.

Just returned from U Hotel and it was ace. Book direct as cheaper and good deals for more than 3 days. I will be writing a 5 star review in next few days. For the location it is ace. I walked around shopping by myself when my partner was resting and all ok. Pool was outside our door, reading room/ free internet upstairs, great breakfast included and there were couples and ';girl friends'; and I intend to return with 2 of my girlfriends next year ...........so go for it ! It was beautiful and great cheap restaurants nearby and Sunday walking market goes straight past the door so make sure you are there on a Sunday! Enjoy !

Hi chocolate friend,

Glad to hear it all turned out so well.

Hi there! I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;ve made your decision yet or not...but if I were you it would be one of the following two. UHotel in the ';old city'; which I just love, or Rim Ping Village Hotel, which is over near the river. This is a really great place that two of you travelers from the UK took time to let me know about, so...as usual...I went over and checked it all out! Very nice, lovely location, good pool, quiet, safe, clean walkable to Night Bazaar and other tourist places in CM town or on the river. It%26#39;s definitely one of my ';even tho I live here...I%26#39;d spend a week end checked in there'; list! (UHotel...is also on that same list) Hope this helps some. Marie (nannyre)
