Weather forecast this weekend

I%26#39;ll be spending this weekend in Bangkok. All the websites I%26#39;ve goggled says that it will be raining - thunderstorms and all. I%26#39;ll be staying on Soi 8 at Sukhumvit Rd.

Has the rain been continuous everyday or is it the kind that stops after 1 hr? Any threat of flooding?

Will I still be able to visit Chatuchak Market?

Weather forecast this weekend

There has been serious flooding in many parts of the city, and more is forecast for next week. Its the height of monsoon and floods are an annual event, although worse than usual in the last gew days. As far as I know Soi 8 has not been affected, but some areas near Chatuchak have been. Rain has been persistant and last many hours, although today has been mostly dry.

Weather forecast this weekend

Please don%26#39;t let the above post worry you - we spent the last four days in Bangkok (stayed at Lebua), and managed to open air dinners (Sirocco and Breeze), as well as visiting numerous outdoor markets and temples.

In short, there MAY be brief rain showers, but we didn%26#39;t encounter anything heavy or any flooding in the areas we visited within the city.

Hope that helps!

(Oh, and it was very hot/humid!)

The type of cells that hit Bangkok can mean that one district can be flooded, while another sees light showers. There is no way to predict the conditions at any particular spot.

Just carry an umbrella, pay attention and don%26#39;t wear your patent oxfords!

We are flying to Bangkok today and hopeing to visit the Suan Lum Night market tomorrow night- is that area badly affected?

Maybe we should stick to MBK...

We visited the Suan Lum night market twice - Monday and Wednesday, and there was absolutely no flooding at all in that area.

Really enjoyed the market - remember to be persistant and haggle like crazy over prices. The sellers started at hugely inflated prices on everything, and more often than not came down by 50 to 35% in the end (and I bet we were still had! lol!)

The Muay Thai boxing at the Lumphini stadium right next to the market is well worth checking out too - very authentic atmosphere.
