we are considering travelling to Phuket in March 2010 and would like some advice on accomodation that would suit family of four- kids aged 4 and 6 . It would need to be around 4 star, have a great pool, with easy access to resturants and supermarket.
Thankyou
accomodation for family with 2 young kids
We%26#39;re staying with our 4 %26amp; 6 year old at the Baumanburi resort in patong. It%26#39;s costing us $3,500 baht per night for a Grand Deluxe room. For an extra bed it%26#39;s 660baht per night. So our 4 night stay is costing $17,520 baht. This includes the extra bed, breakfast for 6 year old and 4 year old (220 baht for 4 year old for b/fast).
Not bad now the rate is really good. That%26#39;s a high season rate that we booked through Royal exclusive Travel.

Although we left the little ones at home his year, we stayed at the Mercure Patong and on there top floor they had family rooms which looked great and we will definately stay there next time we decide to take our younger ones. The pool is great the hotel itself is modern and clean 4 star, it is in a great location close to everything, I even think they have a kids club???? Also fabulous value for money which leaves more to spend on shopping etc!!!
expedia.com I think has some pretty good deals for next march as it is high season, we are also travelling back there in March and also found the air asia website has good prices for alot of hotels in march, goodluck :)
Hi,
I%26#39;m not sure what your budget is, or which area you prefer, but the Phuket Orchid Resort in Karon Beach is also worth checking out. We stayed there last year and it struck me as a very famly orientated place with great pools for kids yet seperate main pool for adults. I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s quite a 4* resort, perhaps upper 3-star.
The star system is greatly affected by the level of room you choose in Phuket. Many 4 star places are definitely 3 star if you stay in the basic room, some 3 star become 4 star if you stay in a suite.
Patong Merlin is a great place for kids, as long as you don%26#39;t need/want a kids club, which is non-existent there. It%26#39;s not quite 4 star, but it%26#39;s a good 3-3.5 star in a pool view room. Holiday Inn I%26#39;d say 4 star in a good room, strong 4 in the Busakorn. Always a safe bet. Good kiddy pool area, supposedly good kids club. But if a pool is your thing, Duangjitt has great pools, large tropical grounds, and the Family Suite is touching 4.5 star. They say only sleeps 3, but as your kids are under 12 I think they allow the fourth to share your bed. In reality you%26#39;ll have them downstairs on the double bed/settee (did I mention it%26#39;s 2 storey ?). The tight spiral staircase may be an issue for the littlies, they%26#39;d just need to be careful. Only thing there not really up to scratch is the breakfast. It%26#39;s not really a ';kids'; place, but as your kids are just 4 %26amp; 6, it wont really matter. I recall there are some hotels with pools with small water slides, but I don%26#39;t remember the names.
If you are going for 10 days or more, definitely split your stay into 2 areas.
Worth checking out Courtyard Marriott at Surin Beach or Kamala Beach - per reviews here they seems to be good 4* very family oriented hotels. Great pools and free kids club. We are family of 4 (with 2 young kids) and has booked a suite with Courtyard Marriott Surin in December.
