Planning 1st trip to South thailand

My Husband and I stayed in Bangkok for a few nights during our honeymoon (which we absolutely LOVED!) and have been meaning to go back to explore the beaches and islands ever since (only 5 years). We are now trying to plan this trip for Easter this year and would like a little advice. From reading brochures, forum information and speaking to friends we are thinking of flying into Bangkok and then onto Phuket - staying there for a few nights, then moving onto Khao Lak for a few more nights, then onto Khao Sok National park for a night or two and then back to Phuket for a few nights before making our way back to Bangkok on our way home. I am after advice on this plan initially, and then on suitable accomodation if we decide on this route. We are really open to suggestion as have never been to this area before. We would like a complete mixture of experiences - diving/relaxing/night markets/restaurants/bars (but not into clubbing)/natural beauty and SUN!!! Also is Phi Phi worth a visit from Phuket? and are we missing something really important in this route? The type of accomodation that we are after is as nice as possible for a reasonable rate - £35 per night tops. Where is the best place to book accommodation? At the moment we are looking on agoda.com

Thanks in advance

Not sure when your Easter falls in 2010. If its in April, it may coincide with Songkran (13-15 April) which is Thailand%26#39;s biggest national festival (New Year).

If so, its high season. Not sure too why you would want to travel back to Phuket a second time, when there is so much more to see. Phuket is very expensive compared to other places in Thailand. Not far from Khao Sok, is the province of Nakorn Si Thammarat which has wide long sand beaches that are rarely visited by foreign tourists.

Agoda is fine, you can also look at asiarooms.com, and sawasdee.com

Thanks dragonc for advice. The only reason for going back to Phuket was to get plane back to Bangkok as the international flights seem to be much cheaper to here. We also have friends here that we could leave some of our luggage and anything we have bought whilst we travel elsewhere. I like sound o Nakorn Si Thammarat though, I will look into this further now - thanks.

What happens during Songkran? Anything we should make sure we see or get involved in?

Hi,

If it hooks up to your international flight in BKK , get a transfer from Khoa Sok to Suret Thani airport and fly to BKK

We are doing something similiar but going to Khoa Sok for 2 days from Krabi and then onto Suret Thani and onto BKK. I do believe they only have 2 flight daily one am and one at 16:05 .

hope this helps.

Thanks, I will definately look into this option.
