Hi, can you please help me to decide which hotel I should book
Centre Point Petchburi
OR
Centre Point Silom
I like them both equaly and price range is similar, so the only concern is location!
It%26#39;s important for us that it%26#39;s walking distance to Sky TRain and/or subway line; that area is not too dirty and too loud (e.g. night entertainment). So that we can enjoy the area around the hotel + easly reach the rest of the town.
I%26#39;m looking at the map, but really... it doesn%26#39;t say much to me:)
Thanks!
ANy input is welcome!
Centre Point Silom or Petchnburi?
Hi,
I know this wasn%26#39;t one of your options.. but we stayed at Centrepoint Wireless Rd, and personally i thought it was awesome! Its on the same rd that Suan Lum Night Bazaar is on (about 1km down), and the Sky Train is literally 50m from the hotel entrance, so therefore it is easy to get everywhere you want. We never had a problem finding a taxi or tuk tuk to take us to where we wanted to go, however most of the time we caught the Sky Train. Its not in a noisy area so there isn%26#39;t any problems there. The breakfast is yum, lots of variety, and overall the hotel is beautiful. The staff are also very friendly, and held our extra baggage for us while we went to phuket.
The only downfall i would say is that there isn%26#39;t very many places to eat close by, however there is a small shopping centre within walking distance that has an eatery. But we just caught the skytrain to MBK to get food or ate out before we returned to the hotel.
Hope this helps :)
Centre Point Silom or Petchnburi?
As one of your criteria is ';within walking distance of the skytrain';, then you can cross Petchburi off your list. It is at least 15 minutes walk and probably closer to 20 minutes.
It is also an area that has hardly any bars or good restaurants. It is almost directly opposite Panthip Plaza (pirated software etc), but apart from that it has little going for it that part of Bangkok.
Centrepoint in Silom is a far better choice, or as the OP has said, Centrepoint in Wireless Road is also a good choice.
I stayed in Centerpoint Ratchadamri and the location is great..its close to the BTS station of Ratchadamri and the Chitlom station, its walking distance to Central world plaza, central chitlom, Amarin Plaza, siam paragon, Big C etc... we loved the hotel and location very much.
I%26#39;ve stayed at Silom and liked it - very easy to get to the skytrain and its on the river (or at least close) which is also good. Some reasonable places to eat and a Robinsons department store and Tops supermarket are under the hotel.
I wouldn%26#39;t choose the Petchburi one at all - its not anywhere as easy to get around with less restaurants handy but you can get cabs easily enough and its close to Pantip (computer )Plaza and the Garment district.
These days I usually stay at the Centrepoint Langsuan which is near Chitlom station - very central but it is about 500 walk to the station down an easy street. There is a free hotel tuk tuk that will take you up to the station in the day time if you don%26#39;t want to walk. Its just a block or two from the Wireless Centrepoint. Generally a bit cheaper than the Wireless one and a bit dearer than the Silom one but if you look around you can get specials. Its small and comfortable - of course we have become use to it so it feels like home now.
Centre Point Silom is a good location. It is further off the shiny path than the other suggestions, yet convenient to both the BTS and Chao Phraya boats.
I prefer to be able to get away from downtown.
I have stayed at both, and Silom is only about 50 to 100 m from a train station and about another 50m away from the river ferries. Not a great deal of restaurants in the area but you are only 2 minutes away from the restaurants of Silom road. Live dangerously and go by Tuk Tuk it is great. Also if you feel like an expensive treat, the Lebua Tower is close by, go to the bar on the 62nd floor, outside, and tell me if that is not the best view for a bar ever. Drinks are way expensive but it is worth having at least one.
Petchburi has nice rooms but is about a 15 minute walk to train stops and not many restaurants close by. Good luck
I would have to agree with the majority on this one, I have only stayed at Centrepoint Petchburi a few times and never the one at Silom. I know the location of Centrepoint Silom and it is close to the river for ferries and also BTS.
The area arounf the Silom location tends to shut down at night (generally only food stalls and Robinsons are open) whereas the Petchburi one still has some things happening if you dont mind walking about 20 minutes to the World Trade Centre etc. (or catch a taxi).
