First time to Bangkok - We cant decide between the Rose hotel on Silom close to Patong road or the Somerset Lake Point a bit further out. Can anyone tell us if the rose is a noisy and a real seedy area??? opinions conflict on the reviews. Somerset looks quieter area but not that close to transport but not sure if that would be a real hassle?
Can someone advise which is best?
Also we arrive into Bangkok late at night should we organise a transfer to hotel rather than muck around with taxis at that hour of the night?
which hotel area would be best?Meter taxi rides are available 24 hours a day. Read some of the taxi posts under the search function. Lots and lots of info on taxi rides from the airport. You can of course have the hotel pick you up if you really want to - only it will cost more!
There are some very good hotels in the Sukhumvit Road area, even if there are some bars around there you won%26#39;t have any real problems. I stay in cheap places with air, with the windows shut I rarely hear any traffic.
Seedy areas? No one ever forces a tourist into a bar! Thousands of people walk by bars every day in Bangkok and are never bothered. You will see more nudity and crudeness on a beach back in your own country!
which hotel area would be best? The Rose Hotel is SEEDY. The Somerset is in an entirely different league - and price. If you want to avoid ';seediness'; then there is only one choice - The Somerset Lake Point.
Don%26#39;t even consider the Rose as an option as there is cockroaches that come up through the bathroom shower drain!Won%26#39;t elaborate further but no!!
