Merlin beach resort

Hi all we are looking to travel to Khao lak in April and staying at either Merlin beach resort or Le Meridian. Can anyone reccommend one over the other? Not sure of proximity to restaurants etc for both as have never been there before. We have been to Koh Samui, Hua Hin %26amp; Phuket and wondering if Khao Lak is like any of these destinations?

Also are there any shops and beach restaurants?

Merlin beach resort

Stayed at the Merlin for 2 nights in 2006. Excellent accommodation. Ate all our meals in-house so cannot recommend (or to be truthful even remember) any close restaurants.

Hi,

I have not stayed at the Merlin only the Le Meridien. They both have walking access to some good restaurants outside. Some by the Merlin are Jo%26#39;s Seafood, Hello Bar, Maleevan rest, the Asia elephant and Safari Park also has a restaurant that is popular with locals ect. The Le Meriiden has the famous Rim Lay on its beach within 5 minutes walk a further 20 minutes past the Sarojin you will come to the Boatyard rest one of the best . There are another three at Ao Thong white sand beach inbetween. You also have a few on the highway outside the LM and another to the right along the beach apart from the hotels 6 very fine restaurants. Here is a link to my album of the LM

Khao Lak i would describe as a wonderfull place , endless beaches and where Phuket has grown into what it is Khao Lak still retains its charm and has so many fantastic thai authentic restaurants.
