what a difference a year can make.. last year we were getting 21!! make a difference over a few weeks...

Just needs to hold on for another 3 weeks for me.

Some more rumours (rumours only please) of interest rate hikes will only help!!

Just for those who want to compare exchange rates

www.bankthailand.info/ExchangeRates.htm

the page has links to all of the thai bank exchange rates

I think you get a better rate on cards, but there are other fees involved. It was the first time in ages I had seen it get to 29 Bt, and I took the opportunity.

Heres another link that compares banks rates.

$A set to break parity with $US in 2010

EOIN BLACKWELL

September 25, 2009

The Australian dollar could break above parity with the US dollar for the first time in nearly 30 years if the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) raises the base interest rate from a current three per cent over the next 12 months.

But economists say the domestic currency is unlikely to stay above $US1 for long.

Four out of five economists surveyed by AAP believe the domestic the unit can break parity with the US dollar in either the June or September quarters of 2010.

ICAP economist Adam Carr said financial markets could be tempted to test the local currency above $US1 in early 2010.

If successful, it will be the first time Australia has broken parity since the days of fixed exchange rates before the currency was floated in 1983.

';The prospects for the Aussie dollar are very good,'; he said.

';When the RBA starts its tightening cycle I think we%26#39;ll be around parity, whether we break it or not is not my formal forecast, but we%26#39;ll be very close.

';If we break through ($US1) I don%26#39;t imagine we%26#39;ll hold it for more than nine months.';

Amount to convert:

$ 1 US Dollar (USD)=฿ 33.49 Thai Baht (THB)

33.49 BHT = AUD Fact or Fiction

So book now pay later may be nice

Hi Aspin - let me assure of one thing.

Predictions of where currency movements are going are about as useless as a gas heater in phuket.

13 months ago similar predictions were made - and the AUD fell at rates not seen for many a year.

then about 6 months ago the economists had the AUD falling well below $0.50c - and rates recovered like never before.

If the papers bothered to hold these economists to account, you would realise how pathetic they actually are. However the journos and the economists have a cosy relationship - the economists give them news stories, the papers give the economists publicity.

If the world really thought the AUD was going to break parity - it would already be there.

Today%26#39;s price reflects all known knowledge of news and events, goodle AUD to hit parity and look for articles from mid last year - they make you giggle

Forex futures are very speculative and cyclic. Lot of people have lost alot of dosh wagering on currency trading. BOT policy is keep the yank $ around 33-35 - doubt it will go any lower than that range.
