Bangkok to Penang

We will be in Thailand in late December (mostly in Chiang Mai) but we wanted to get down to Penang for a couple days. Yes we can fly or take the train, but are there any boat routes or boat tours that go from Bangkok to Penang and back? Stops at beaches or islands would be nice too.

Check out Star Cruses, they may have the odd cruise covering that route. There is no %26#39;scheduled%26#39; boat service.

Bangkok to Penang

You could get boat out of Phuket and have a few stops in between i.e.

Phuket to Koh Phi Phi, then to Koh Lanta, then to Koh Lipe and then to Langkawi and then either fly 20 min flight or get boat from Langkawi to Penang.

Don%26#39;t know how much time you have.

Failing that if you go down to Satun there are regular ferries to Langkawi and then you could get boat to Penang. Not many toursits visit or stay in Satun but its fine for a stopover and cheap and friendly. .
