Is the train from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok reliable?

Hi All

I will be travelling by train from Kanchanburi to Bangkok on November 26. From Bangkok I want to fly to Phuket on the same afternoon.

The train is scheduled to depart Kanchanaburi at 07:20 and arrive at Thon Buri at 10:00. Does anyone know how reliable the times are?

I would like to fly out around 13:00 but I%26#39;m concerned that the train will run late. Would 3 hours be long enough to catch a taxi to the airport and check in etc?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Can%26#39;t really offer any solid advice on the trains time table adherence sorry mate.

I can say that if the train was an hour late, you%26#39;d still make your flight.

If an hour and a half late, you%26#39;d be cutting it very fine.

I have been to the station in Kanchanaburi a number of times and noted that the train frequently arrives late from Bangkok. Based on this, I can only assume that the train arrives late in Bangkok. Despite having visited Kanchanaburi many times I have always taken the bus. However, people have told me that it%26#39;s a beautiful journey.

Trains in Thailand are very often late. And you%26#39;d also still have to find your way from the train station in Thonburi to the airport.

Forget the train. Take a public van directly to Victory Monument (150 baht per person), and change there to either another van (70 baht) or a taxi (200 baht) to the airport.

We are looking to follow a similar timetable in February when we fly back to uk at 13.30. Can anyone say what time the first Vans leave Kanchanaburi in the mornings to allow time to arrive at airport for lunchtime flight

There are mini buses that pick people up from guest houses throughout the day and they begin early in the morning. I don%26#39;t know when the first one is though. Also, I think they drop off near Ko San road. In addition, there are other mini buses that leave from near the bus station and they go to the Southern bus terminal and are cheaper. From the bus station the 556, semi express goes to the airport. Please do note that this service is not very frequent since I waited for about 40 minutes !

Actually, I vaguely remember that some mini buses go from the guest house area to the airport. Whatever, if your flight is at 13.30 you should make it easily.
