I’ll be travelling alone and opt for staying a boutique hotel near to Thonglor Station. Want to know if this area is safe and how’s the environment like. Any recommendation on restaurant or food stall around the area? Besides Platinum Mall in Pratunam, i’m planning to check out 2 more wholesale markets (Bobae and Sampeng), which one will be worth visit? I’m looking for accessories and clothes.
Thank you in advance for any advices. xoxo
ThongLor area and Wholesale Markets
Thonglor is a great area, currently one of the trendiest in Bangkok. The street and its sub-sois are lined with all kinds of restaurants. Thon Krueng at Soi 13 is a stand-out. There%26#39;s also a renowned roast duck eatery near the corner with Sukhumvit, along with lots of good food carts during the day. On the other side of Sukhumvit in Soi 38 is an evening market with many great street-food stands.
Here%26#39;s a guide to eating in the Thonglpor area.
ThongLor area and Wholesale Markets
Whoops! Here%26#39;s the link: http://importfood.com/thonglor_guide.html
Nice area . There%26#39;re numerous of nightclubs and restaurants, but can be boring during time of traffic congestion in the evening. Motorcycle taxi is the option though
Those two markets i prefer Sampeng but Bobae is much easier to get to via Sansaeb canal boat and very quick to get to Pratunam area
For a restaurant i would recommend An An Lao Chinese restaurant next to J-Avenue

For getting up and down Thonglor in the daytime, jump on the little red bus for 6 baht.
Thanks for advises and love the eateries list. i plan to go Sampeng too but not sure if their stuff are much more cheaper and just as trendy as the stuff in Platinum Mall?
I%26#39;ll use the BTS as the main transport to move around since it is very near to the hotel i book. And have you heard about 53 Inn? read some good reviews and hope wont disappoint me.
Hi their,
Thonglor is a very nice area but if you do need to buy a lot of things from the wholesale markets I would suggest you look for a hotel that closed to Sampeng or Bobae area and have a storage for your goods that will save your times and stay out of the traffice. We did Shop a lot at Sampeng lane and we stayed at China town area is very conveneince and plenty of Restaurants for you . And don%26#39;t forget to check it out at www.chinatownhotel.co.th may be the place you like it.
Good luck with your shopping
