Bus fr Pattaya to Bangkok city-where to alight?

Hi

I will be staying near to Sanam Pao bts station. For the Roong Reuang bus from pattaya to Bangkok, i understand that there are 2 routes to choose, one is to Morchit station and the other to Ekkamai. Morchit station is definitely nearer to Sanam Pao but i am not sure if there will be jams along the way . will the route cut into bangkok downtown or it will use the expressway which bypasses the downtown area? if using expressway, will it be prone to traffic jams such that i am better off taking the bus to ekkamai instead?

thks

the Morchit route uses the expressway all the way to the bus station. However, Morchit Mai bus station is a taxi ride away from Morchit BTS station. The expressway between the first tollgate and Rama 6 exit can be jammed in the evening rush hour, but other times its ok. Ekkamai is also in a heavily congested area but it is right by a BTS station.

Don%26#39;t worry about traffic jams, they are not a major problem to your journey, unless you%26#39;re extremely unlucky.

It really depends on you, and your baggage.

This is not a big decision; 6 of one against half a dozen of the other.....

If you don%26#39;t mind taxis go to Morchit. If you don%26#39;t have heavy bags, and want to get there yourself got to Ekamai and jump on the BTS.

No problem.

If it was me I would simply jump on the first bus that comes in for such a central destination.

Hi Dragonc/andybkk

thks for the advice...

decisions, decisions....there will be 3 kids in my party of 5, plus 2 luggages and maybe 1 hand carry bag...will be leaving Pattaya early in the morning, hopefully by 9am... seems that the morchit route is more convenient. since i need to take taxi anyway, i will just take a cab right to the apt at sanam pao...thks
