Baan Yin Dee - What is the real deal????

After reading lots of reviews for this place I am left totally confused!!

I have found a deal on a website for around $85AUD inc breakfast for next march , and I am wondering weather it is worth staying there.

The website says 5 star but reviewers say it is no longer 5 star more like 3 star now. So if anyone knows if it is still a nice place to stay or any other info I would love to hear it before booking. Otherwise I will go back to old faithful the Mecure Patong. Thanks

Baan Yin Dee - What is the real deal????

Hi,

We stayed there for a few days on our honeymoon in October 2007 - we had a pool access suite - massive - and we loved it. You do need to get a car down to the beach etc.

There is a fair bit of noise when sitting by the pool - but it didn%26#39;t really worry us.

Views %26amp; food were great.

We loved it 2 years ago but also stayed at Gracelands for a few days, where it was more central.

The deluxe rooms are a lot smaller, but still a good size.

We paid only around $100 as it was a special.

Reception staff were pretty ordinary, but the other staff really nice.

Cheers,

Sandy

Baan Yin Dee - What is the real deal????

No knowledge of Baan Yin Dee other than it looks attractive from the road and their website. One issue I would have with Baan Yin Dee is the location. You would be reliant on expensive tuk tuks to get into Patong unless you organised your own private transportation.

Scooters: not recommended unless you have biking experience -still scary on Phuket anyway.

Hire car: again probably only for the brave of heart because of the lack of adherence to road rules.

Private car and driver hire: most recommended but can add a bit of expense to your holiday.

Hi Bubbly (and Sandy...how are you?)

Not sure if you read my review but I suppose it depends on what you pay for the place, unlike Sandy we paid £200 a night, it was peak season over Xmas and New Year and to be honest it was a rip off. We had stayed the previous year under the now owners of the BYD lofts and it was superb, hence our return.

All of the comments in my review were genuine, we found it very hit and miss and in general in need of a makeover. I suppose it depends on what deal you can get. The previous poster has a point with regards to cost of transport and you need to account for that on top of your accommodation.

I would only return to the Baan Yin Dee if I got an exceptionally cheap deal in saying that it is a fantastic place to stay for NYE, the view of the fireworks over Patong beach were amazing!

Thanks guys, I am now also tossing up whether to stay at the Avantika boutique resort for not much more than the Baan yin dee, considering it is high season the rates seem pretty good but i guess i need to make a decision as they are called early bird rates....anyone have any suggestions as to which one to choose??? And thanks Balimoon hubby was just going to hire a bike as he has experience, so transport is not really an issue, cheers again.
