Phuket in 8 - 81/2 hours

Hi, I am going to Phuket on 13 Oct (Tuesday) by StarCruise. As this is my first trip, what activities I should do for 8-81/2 hours? Kindly advise. Thanks...

Suggest book an island tour and then some shopping.

You can either do a pre arranged tour with the cruise/we just got a driver for the day, when we arrived. When we landed at Phuket there where heaps of drivers trying to persuade to use them, but we decided to walk down the beach, where we got a much better deal, from memory it cost us about $40 Aus for about 6 hours. Our one request was elephant riding which we did, and to see round the island tourist spots, our driver was great lovely air con and he spoke good english. We had a fantastic time. I have since discover TA, so I would do a bit of searching about places to see, unfortunatley I can%26#39;t remember all the places, as it was about 18 months ago.

8 hours?.I don%26#39;t understand cruises??I guess a few hours of beach and shopping..Then back in line to board?

Yep - they%26#39;re called shore excursions.

Beaniee - the cruise companies normally have shore excursions arranged but at sometimes quite expensive rates.

A lot of people visiting Phuket do day tours by hiring a driver (we did). This gives a bit of an overview of part of the island.

Common itinerary: views points at beach, particularly Promthep, Wat Chalong, Big Buddha (amazing), elephant ride at Kok Chang, lunch at restaurant with view, sea gypsy village etc. For more info do a search for day tour or driver.

Or you could just go shopping, go to the beach, shoot a pistol, go go-karting, go bungy jumping (if its safe!). Depends on your interests. Hope it helps cheers

Try to avoid Jungceylon shopping centre.

Thanks for all advices....

I reckon they will have finished cleaning up by next Tuesday Sir Philip.

How about a thai massage? Cheap here. Maybe about 200B an hour?

Thai Massage sounds good to me,,,,

If i rent a taxi for couple hours, when should i pay? End of the trip? or?Mid of the trip?
