War museums

I am getting very confused ay all the reports about the different war museums in Kanchanaburi - which is the best?

War museums

The Australian War memorial at Hellfire Pass. It%26#39;s not in Kanchanaburi. You will either have to ---

Go on a tour

Organize you own private taxi

Catch a local bus

Catch the train to Namtok , then get a bus.

War museums

The one next to the war cemetary is the best

Have to agree with both the above posters.

The best museum in Kanchanburi town is right next to the main Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (Don Rak) and is called The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre. Very informative, well presented and good for an hour or more.

As mentioned Hellfire Pass has an even better museum along with some great walks through the Konyu Cutting and beyond. We spent two hours there and could easily have spent longer as you can walk a fair way along the old railway route.

The other two I visited were the JEATH Museum which was OK and The War Museum at The Bridge which was a bit of a ramshackle/ameteur effort if I was honest. Had some interesting things in there to see for an hour or so.

Without a doubt the best museum is the Australian War Muesum at Hellfire Pass. It takes a little effort to get there but it is well worth it.

We have some pics, maps and stories of our trip to the museum here... www.bobandjanette.com/thailand05.html

Happy %26amp; safe travels

Bob
