Phi Phi Island for new year 09/10

Hi

We are staying on Phi Phi Island for New Year, has anyone been there for New Year, is it busy ? Can you recommend bars /restaurants ?? I have also heard about the elephant treks, but also been warned about the poor treatment of some animals, can anyone recommend a reputable day trip for this.
