Sofitel, Centara or Amari Vogue

We have never been to this side of Thailand before and are looking to stay for 2 weeks next Easter. We like a quality hotel with access to a variety of restaurants that ideally you can walk to at night time. We are not drinkers so the night scene is not important. We enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving for the occasional trip to the sea but in the main prefer to be by the pool. We would be interested to hear comments of pros and cons of the hotels mentioned or even of other equivalent standard alternatives. Thanks.

Sofitel, Centara or Amari Vogue

We have stayed at the Amari Vogue and out of all three is easily situated on the best beach with the best views of the Hong Islands (Tub Kaek Beach). There is about 3 or 4 levels of swimming pools here with in-built jacuzzi seats. And the service poolside is amazing.

The Amari shares the beach with just 1-2 other resorts so it is very quiet, although you can catch a long tail straight off the beach, but there are no hawkers. It has two restaurants and you can walk across the the Tubkaak Resort to dine also. The Amari will also help you arrange any diving needs or trips if you need it. Just email them and they will quickly reply.

However this resort is about a 10min drive to Sofitel, and about 20min into Ao Nang town. They offer a courtesy shuttle bus there, but you have to ake your own way back by taxi - cost 500 baht.

The Sofitel and Sheraton are relatively close to each other, the Sheraton is on the beach whilst the Sofitel is located across the road from the beach. The Nakamanda Resort is also located close by, and there are a few local restaurants and an Irish Pub around this area.

The Sofitel is reasonably new and is a sprawling resort, whilst the Amari is about 2-3 years old. Sheraton is a bit older still.

For luxurious rooms, resort and service, plus peace and quiet in an amazing location, you can%26#39;t go past the Amari.

Sofitel, Centara or Amari Vogue

Hi,

Just to add the Centara would give you the option of a variety of restaurants for dining in the evenings as you can get to Ao Nang via the monkey trail which is walkable but a torch is recomended in the evenings. Another very nice hotel resort is the newish Sala Taly www.salatalay.com
