resort with a decent beach in Patong?

Hi everyone,

Wondering if there are any suggestions for a resort with a good beach access in Patong: most places mention that the beach is%26#39;just across the road%26#39;, but haven%26#39;t come across a place which has a private beach in Patong.

Thinking of booking Novotel but wanted to get some expert advice!

Private beaches are illegal as beaches are public property. In Patong Town center, a road runs alongside the beach cutting off the buildings from the beach. Many hotels in the outskirts and in other areas have good beach access. Any hotel directly on a beach has to allow public access to the beach (but not through the hotel itself)..

Patong Beach is really not a decent swimming beach. We just came back and they had the red flags out for no swimming most days and it was dirty and murky. For good beach access though try the Patong Merlin or the Holiday Inn. For a better beach, pick something on Karon Beach.

Hi Donald, Le Meridian has its ';own'; beach, its a few km south of Patong. Its out of the way, so add transport costs to your budget to get to shops and restaurants.
