Duty Free: Heathrow vs Singapore

Flying to Phuket with Singapore Airlines via Singapore next month. We will have a couple of hours in Singapore before the flight to Phuket. Am I better off buying my duty free (alcohol) at Heathrow, or at Singapore. Which is cheapest? We usually like to take a couple of bottles with us to have on our holiday!

there%26#39;s not much difference, if Heathrow is running it%26#39;s cheap 2 bottle offers it%26#39;s probably better to buy there, also if you are paying with a card, you won%26#39;t have to pay for the conversion and foreign transaction fee that you will in Singapore

I work at Glasgow airport (BAA airport) and they are doing the 2 bottle offer, so agree would be better buying at Heathrow.

We are flying from Brisbane to Phuket with SIA on Saturday and changing terminals in Singapore with only 50 mins between flights but we have been told we cannot buy duty free in Brisbane because of security - can%26#39;t take it on the flight to Phuket, doubt if we will have time to buy it in Singapore

Not sure how true this is - I have read here that if you fly through Bangkok they take the duty free off you.

Lots of TA posting here say grog is cheaper in Phuket than Duty Free - hope they are right.
