Minivan or bus to Railway Market where from ?

I was told that you can take a mini van or bus to the Railway Market from near the Victory Monument. Does anyone know where.

Also how often does it leave and how much does it cost?

Thanks

Ed

Most of the shuttles depart from beneath the ';Fashion Mall';. Unfortunately, without a good knowledge of where you are going, and/or the Thai language, using them can be quite daunting.

Their ';schedule'; pretty much depends on how long it takes to pack in 10 passengers. Besides the cramped quarters, getting form point A to point B is based more on luck than any skill the driver may or may not possess.

I%26#39;m not sure where ';railway market'; is. Does this refer to the market in Samut Songkhram aka Maekhlong?

If so, take the little ';Maekhlong Commuter'; train from Wang Wian Yai station in Thonburi for 10 baht to Mahachai, then cross the estuary of the Maekhlong River on the 2 baht ferry and take the train on to Maekhlong. More than half the fun is getting there. Richard Barrow describes it here: thai-blogs.com/index.php/…

As for vans from Victory Monument, I%26#39;ve never gone to Samut Songkhram from there, but I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s possible, even if you don%26#39;t speak Thai. You%26#39;d have to ask for Maekhlong - pronounced May-GLONG. From the BTS station, walk out on the walkway and descend when you see a restaurant called ';Victory Point.'; There%26#39;s a van station down there, and a woman is selling tickets. I think most people would speak at least a little English. Just ask around, they%26#39;re very helpful. The vans, as Curt says, don%26#39;t operate on a fixed schedule, but they%26#39;re probably quite frequent during the day. Be sure to find out when a van is going back, and where in Maekhlong to catch it.
