We are thinking of booking at this hotel. Is it walking distance to Hua Hin town - one sight said 10 mins walking another 10 mins by taxi. We stayed at the Marriot last year - how far is it from the Marriot. Also does anyone know whether they have satellite tv in the rooms and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.

Baan Bayan Hotel Hua Hin
Cate, Baan Bayan is very different indeed from places such as the Marriott but the difference makes it so nice as long as you prefer perhaps a morew homely style place
The style is more natural Thai style and of course much much smaller. It tends to be quiet during the week but full at weekends. You can walk to the Shopping Mall ( Hua Hin Market Village ) which I guess you know from last year so that gives you an idea of distance.
Far more laid back and almost %26#39;homely%26#39; sort of place.
Breakfast will not be the choice of somewhere like the Marriott.
I would say though that the staff, style of the place will make you feel much more of %26#39;being in Thailand%26#39; than Marriott style. The staff have always been very good indeed. Quite a while since we stayed but people in the office, friends etc - it%26#39;s very well liked. They have Satelite TV plus DVD etc.
If you like more homely style then you would enjoy, but not if you want the facilities you would have say at Marriott / Sofitel style.
Baan Bayan Hotel Hua Hin
They used to have bungalow style rooms near the sea, if you can get one of those you will love it.
Just be sure you are happy not being in a Marriott / Hilton style place :)
They have the water kettle for tea and coffee in the room
( I always take my own tea and coffee though as find nicer than what hotels always provide )
