Flooding and demonstrations

I%26#39;m arriving in Bangkok tomorrow. I%26#39;m reading reports about large demonstrations planned and also about flooding.

Can someone give a local update? I%26#39;m staying at the Siam Heritage for a few days before heading across to Ko Samet on Tuesday.

Flooding and demonstrations

There has been some serious flooding in several areas of the city, and more is forecast for the coming week. This is an annual event related to the height of the monsoon when the ground is saturated and cannot take in the extra water. The water table in and around Bangkok is very high at the best of times. I don%26#39;t think the area around Siam Heritage is affected, but it does create huge traffic jams which back up across the city.
