Consider the Kata Beach Resort... Phuket has some great beaches.
Phuket
We stayed at Indigo Pearl up by the airport which was lovely but possibly too far away from the action by the sounds of it for you. However if money is no object it%26#39;s about a 700 baht taxi ride to patong.
When we were there we had a look around and we both thought Kata would be a lovely place to stay and if Kata beach resort is the one I%26#39;m thinking of, right on the beach, it certainly looked nice in the lobby!
I%26#39;m suggesting the Le Meridian again. Perfectly romantic, sufficiently quiet, has a private beach, just devine. Still very close to Patong and the shops and restaurants, etc.

Hi P11shd
Have a look at Twin Palms, Marina Phuket, Sala Phuket, Mom Tris Villa Royale, Malaisa Villas Kata, La Flora private pool villa these are all very luxurious and most offer rooms with private pools which are fantastic to stay in and great for those evening dips in privacy. Be aware though that December is peak season and hotel prices are double the normal rate.
Hope this helps.

Some good recommendations - take your pick! Given your comments. I would head to Patong, Karon or Kata.
%26#39;Starrf1re%26#39; correctly noted that going somewhere like the %26#39;Indigo%26#39; is %26#39;a bit out of it%26#39;. Fine if you just want to absolutely ';chill out'; for the duration rather expensive when it comes to meals, shopping and - if you want to venture out - engaging a taxi.
A friend and I have put together a tip sheet over the 15 years or so we have been visiting Phuket.
It is a sort of %26#39;quick start%26#39; for your holiday suggests places to go, places to eat and, of course, places to shop as well as information on things like drinking water, currency exchange and so on! Something to carry with you and totally non-commercial.
If you - or anyone else reading this post -would like a copy, just email me: rfdunedin@ymail.com.
Cheers!
Hi,
I voted Patong Beach, I also booked my stay at Patong Beach for December this year after 4 times visits. But this time I try the new hotel, Andakira, which opens in November. It looks nice hotel and should be a good service as the reservation officer try to treat my desires. Impiana Cabana Hotel, that I stayed last year, is also good and close to the beach, but a little bit crowded.
If you look for the sandy beaches, Kata or Karon is so nice but less places to chill out than Patong.
Cheers.
Hi Komul,
I have been avidly following Phuket TA since May when I booked our flights.
I reached the conclusion that Patong was the thriving heaving party destination and that Kata and Karon where the places to chill out.
Hope I got it right cos I have booked Kata.
Smiling
Mari

It%26#39;s not advisable to post your Email address on a public forum- a sure fire recipe for being inundated with spammers!
I suggest you delete your post and then send a PM containing your Email address. :)
Some great answers here p11....However,';Are there any white sandy beaches here..??';.....
Nai Harn Beach would be my pick for a beautiful surf beach(tho%26#39; no surf in December)....And for sheer beauty,Paradise Beach or Tri Trang Beach which are on the soutthern side of Patong....Beautiful beaches but not quite white....
The most beautiful white sand beach in my opinion is of course,White Sand Beach(Ao Tong)in Khao Lak about 2 hours drive north of Patong....
Definitely worth a drive and looksee for a day or 2.....
