what should i do in thailand?

Heres the thing, me and my partner (bout 19yo) fly into thailand 31st december.

We are in bangkok for 2 nights, than down to phuket for 5, and back to bangkok for 5.

We have no idea what we can do for the 7 nights in bangkok, can anyone give us a brief guide of what to do, how long shopping takes, temples, bike tours? anything thats worth it.

yeah ive done a few, mostly finding temples and what not, just wondering what other people have done or would on the same amount of time, i.e how many days for shopping and where to go for it etc.

on NYE head to Central World for the big countdown party; food, drink and entertainment. Traffic will be very heavy so head out early, and the street outside Central World will be closed, so skytrain is the way to go.

The main must see in Bangkk is the Grand Palace, no visitor should miss this architectural wonder. Other than than, explore the riverside by riding the Chao Phrya Express boat (check the Top Bangkok Questions on the top right to get details about transport in Bangkok). Take a trip to Ayuddhya, take a trip to http://www.ancientcity.com, go to Lumpini Park and elax and watch the monitor lizards; MBK for cheap shopping.
